Job Description: Disaster Response Program Development Coordinator
Location: Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The United Saints Recovery Project is seeking a Disaster Response Program Development Coordinator.
This position is responsible for creating a plain-language curriculum for vulnerable homeowners after disaster, presenting the curriculum for public education, having initial contact with affected homeowners seeking assistance, and working closely with our Construction Site Supervisors to complete intakes of potential projects.
This position requires writing and public speaking skills. A valid driver’s license is also required.
As an agency dedicated to meeting the needs of the community through volunteerism, we rely on volunteers to not only do the work needed help get people back into their homes, but to also lead other volunteers. It is a special task and takes a very patient and outstanding person to do this job.
Member Duties:
Member will research material to be included in the disaster response curriculum like local ordinances and laws regarding contractors, permits, and heir properties.
Interview experts in disaster resiliency to create a list of red flags for homeowners to look out for.
Network with local, trusted contractors to create a list of reliable companies for homeowners who do receive insurance and/or other aid monies.
Simplify information into plain language.
Create brochuresand presentation of material. Share information in the community.
Oversee the finding of new projects and make initial contact with affected homeowners seeking assistance.
Oversee the completion of intake forms of potential projects.
