John Harrison’s House
John Harrison III, a 70 year-old resident of Central City New Orleans, is in need of some exterior home repairs. After spending much of his adult life working in Texas, Mr. Harrison returned to his childhood home to take care of his ailing mother. When she passed away, he inherited the house, which has been in the family for nearly 50 years.
Currently, due to emphysema and an aneurysm, Mr. Harrison is unable to up-keep portions of his home, including the lawn and the exterior of the attic. He is especially concerned about the back lawn, where weeds and vines are growing up the house and ruining the siding.
Mr. Harrison served in the U.S. Air Force, and worked as an executive chef thereafter. He is now retired and attends Mother Catherine Church.
If anyone wants to lend their expertise to this project, or help us with funding, we would be extremely grateful. Please see our volunteer application page and/or our donation page.
Update
So far, we’ve cleared the backyard of debris, and are ready to repair the siding.
Thank You!
Thanks to a generous homeowner, who let us reclaim siding from a building scheduled for demolition. This siding will be used to seal and protect Mr. Harrison’s house. This will be the first house the United Saints have rehabilitated using only recycled materials.
