Mr. Philip’s duplex in Central City took quite a beating from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Mr. Philip inherited the house from his grandmother, “My grandma played a big role in my life,” stated Mr. Philip, “So I grew up around that duplex, which is why it’s important to me to keep the place going.”
The residence has been in Mr. Philip’s family since the early 1950s and he is trying to get it back in good working order. “I’ve got a lot of work to do on the inside of it, but I’m very satisfied with the work United Saints has done on the outside,” he said.
United Saints volunteers have primed and painted the whole house, as well as covering the foundation gaps with lattice, but there is still siding that needs repair and gutters need to be installed. Any donations would be greatly appreciated by Mr. Philip and United Saints.
