Ms. Ella Mae’s

Who is Ella Mae?

Ella Mae is a strong willed, fiercely independent woman that is 84 years old, living with dementia living in Central City, New Orleans. She owns her own home and lives alone. While she has friends and neighbors that check in with her, she still faces large challenges from day to day. Her home is in desperate need of repair, yet Ella Mae has no desire to leave or any family in the area to rely on.  She is very passionate about staying in her home and together with your help we have already vastly improved her living conditions. Along the way, Ella Mae has been gracious and outgoing, making many new friends with the volunteers that have come to help us repair her home.

In an effort to fulfill Ella Mae’s wish to remain in her home, the United Saints Recovery Project has been working diligently to help clean, organize, remove garbage, and complete major repairs, including those on her exterior siding. Our goal is to make her home safe and comfortably inhabitable, and we have installed new plumbing, subfloor, linoleum flooring, a toilet, sink, bathtub, and drywall in her bathroom.

The next big challenge for Ella May’s home is to rebuild an exterior wall that has extreme water damage. We encourage you to visit Ella Mae, experience her situation, and bring your time and talents to join our cause. We need your help, in the form of donations, materials, skilled volunteers, especially framing/carpentry skills.  If you can help in any way, please contact us immediately!

We can be reached at 504-895-2922 ext 108, unitedsaints@gmail.com, or call Daryl directly at 612-250-5555.

We would also like to give a special thanks to Dr. Janie C. Holmes and the International Association of Ministers’ Wives & Ministers’ Widows for their generous donation and all of the volunteers that have donated or labored to transform Ella Mae’s home thus far.

Please consider making a donation to the United Saints so we may continue our work on her home. Our goal is to raise $35,000 which we have determined is needed to complete the renovations on Ella Mae’s home.

Donations can be made through our website, or by check made out to United Saints.

Thank you!!!
