The United Saints has teamed up with Holistic Educational Rehab Center (HERC), which is an organization that helps provide services for those that suffer from mental illness. HERC was started in 1999 and is a facility that treats men and women in a supportive environment
Currently, there are 12 residents in the facility, some due to Hurricane Katrina. “Many of them come to our facilities and basically say, ‘I got nowhere to go,’” said Rev. Eden, who is on the Board of Directors for the HERC program.
United Saints volunteers have just started this project and are in the process of repainting the rooms and halls inside of the facility. “The newly painted walls enhance the environment around our residents,” stated Rev. Eden, “and this kind of change in their environment could help them find the change in themselves that is needed.”
