LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!
We work and live in the heart of Tuscaloosa! We are blocks away from the University of Alabama campus!
ACCOMMODATIONS
Accommodations are dormitory style. Volunteers will either sleep on a cot, air mattress, or bunk bed. Volunteers will need to provide their own sheets, sleeping bag, and pillow.
FOOD
Some food, but not all meals are provided so we recommend volunteers budget for this. We are fortunate to receive periodic food donations from area food banks as well as the Whole Foods bakery. This food will be available for volunteers to prepare themselves. We also receive cold lunches twice a week from an area church.
WORK CLOTHES and SAFETY ITEMS
Volunteers are expected to wear appropriate work clothes to volunteer in. Jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts are fine to work in and closed toe shoes or boots are required. Volunteers are asked to bring their own safety glasses and work gloves to insure safety on the project sites.
SEVERE WEATHER ADVISORY
Tornado season in Alabama occurs between March and April but there is potential for bad weather all throughout the year. Should severe weather threaten your time here, we will take proper safety precautions and respond accordingly.
